West German newspapers at the beginning of 1927.<br \/>\nIt was placed by Georg Sandmann, a member of the board of the steelworks association since 1925 and one of Fritz Thyssen&#8217;s closest associates for many years.<br \/>\nAt the beginning of his professional career, he had quickly risen to managerial positions at important foundries.<br \/>\nNow 60 years old, he never thought for a minute about retiring.   <\/p>\n<p>Before then, his vision was to come true.<\/p>\n<p>He was convinced that the automobile would prevail as a means of transportation.<br \/>\nAnd it was clear to him that the long-term success and competitiveness of a foundry was only possible through specialization.<br \/>\nGeorg Sandmann and his wife Maria decided to manufacture the heart of every automobile: the cylinder crankcase.<br \/>\nMatching cylinder heads completed the range.   <\/p>\n<p>The foundry they were looking for was finally found in Br\u00fchl near Cologne.<br \/>\nAt the time, the location was convenient to the iron-making industry and coal.<br \/>\nThus began the success story of the ironworks in Br\u00fchl.  <\/p>\n<p>The company has remained loyal to its location ever since, but it is far from being a thing of the past.<br \/>\nThe foundry continues to grow and is now one of the most modern producers for large-scale production in the world.
